The worst of the Rocky films.

Rocky 1 was a classic, 2 was great, 3 starred Mr T and was 80s gold, 4 was USA vs Russia and good fun, 5 is bad on every level possible. It's actually painful to watch. The acting is terrible (complete with Panto villans) the story a complete joke and the ending is by the numbers rubbish. I love the Rocky films. I do not consider this a Rocky movie, merely a Hollywood cash cow production. Trash.

    Back to Basics

This final film (although a sixth is in the pipeline) tries to go back to the original Rocky after making him a political superhero in the fourth. Moving moments when he returns to Mickey's Gym and the old bar from the first film. Also good in the way it shows how boxing has become controlled by promoters with paper champions and their posse. They should have finished the series as a trilogy but Stallone makes amends here after an out of place Rocky 4.

Not as bad as I remember

Always remeber this as the 'worst' Rocky film, but after watching it again recently I think I have changed my mind.

The soundtrack and overall feel of the of film is much closer to the original Rocky, with gimmicks and crowd-pleasers thrown out of the window. Sure, Rocky could have done a bit more boxing but the story doesn't really allow for that.

I think what upset most people originall about Rocky V is that we all thought it would be the last ever Rocky film, and the ending just is not 'Rocky' at all. It would have left us with the impression of the Italian Stallion as a has been, rather than the great legend he should be. But now there is a Rocky 6, this one can, in my opinion, be at last seen as a decent continuation of the story.
