Pleasantly old-fashioned comedy-drama with rather unattractive characters in the modern manner. Despite the freshness, on the whole Marty is still preferable.

this is the film for you. How inspiring is Rocky running up those stairs? OK, so the story, dialogue and acting are in a class of their very own and you won't find anything as pish anywhere else in the world of mainstream cinema, but just surrender yourself to it - it's brilliant!
Excellent bitter sweet story that spawned several sequals. gives the no hoper hope, a classic story.
An original peice that deserved all the awards it got. The rest are pathetic and don't really reflect the life of a boxer or boxing in general.

Every young man loves Rocky
Rocky is an inspiring story, brilliantly written and portrayed. you are on the edge of yor seat all of the way through the final match. sly stallone is wonderful and mickey is amazingly well acted. watch this and then watch the sequels. they never get as good as this but they aren't far off.
this film is absaluatly brilliant,it is worth watchin over and over again.
The original classic. Great movie.
This is a true underdog story, written in just a few days by sly stallone himself. Inspired by the real life fight between Muhammad Ali & Chuck Wepner, it tells the tale of slightly dull-witted but good hearted Rocky Balboa who gets the chance to fight the World Heavyweight Champion Apollo Creed.
If you only watch one film in your life, watch this. It ROCKS
The Rocky series goes full circle with this film, including a return of the original director. The film is certainly an improvement on the previous two sequels, which although enjoyable were getting more and more ridiculous.
The film shows what at it's peak the Rocky series does best; showing the other side to boxing. In this film we see Rocky having to cope with the damage caused through boxing, as well as the influence that promoters and money have on the sport today.
The inevitable fight scene at the end is enjoyable, though not a patch on the original bouts of the first two films. A good film to restore faith in the Rocky series, and hopefully the final one.
