An Italian tenor and movie star, played by Italian tenor and movie star Nino Martini, and an English girl (Patricia Roc) meet on a station. While he rescues her dog from a fight, his bags are stolen, they miss their trains, and experience a night of adventures and mishaps before reaching their destination in Rome and a hearts-and-flowers denouement. An occasionally diverting British-made comedy, enlivened by a supporting cast that includes Bonar Colleano, Stanley Holloway and the soon-to-be great stage actress Irene Worth.
Proves that he is still astonishing live - and long may he remain so.
The atmosphere is amazing! A great barn-stormer of a gig.
Most enjoyable, and well worth watching. Really enjoyed the concert and the songs. I shall certainly keep a look out for any further concerts. Have his music but the concert was the "icing on the cake".
A dapper Stewart is backed up by the 60-piece BBC Concert Orchestra. Stewart's velvety voice seems to have been made especially for singing such classics as 'Blue Moon' and 'They Can't Take That Away From Me'. On these tracks, he is smooth and charming, bringing that particularly Rod Stewart-esque brand of intrigue and play to these intriguing and playful songs. The highlight of this set is the guest appearance of Chrissie Hynde, who joins Stewart for a duet rendition of 'As Time Goes By' (on the album As Time Goes By: The Great American Songbook Volume II that role is filled by Queen Latifah). It's a pleasure to see two pop-rock stars taking such pleasure in interpreting such a classic. Hynde's voice is flat and deadpan, contrasting nicely with Stewart's expressiveness and candor. Plus, they engage in a very playful back and forth while exchanging lines, making the entire performance a delight.
A magnificent performance not only by the old busker himself but also by his supporting musicians, singers and orchestra. The soundtrack is excellent. If you like Rod or just want to while away 80 minutes with some memorable songs, then this is the piece de resistance!
what a showman. this guy gets better with age!

What can be written about Rod, that as not be put in immortal scribe. This DVD is first Class, after renting, you will want to buy it. From the first song to the last, excellent. Am I a Rod Stewart fanatic, no, but this disc will be watched many years from now,
There is many great singers from the 60's now in their 60's, Rod is on a par with any from that generation, and better than any from any generation since. Last words being, More, More,
he had the audience eating out of his hand, a great concert and a great dvd.
There is nothing like watching a performer at the peak of his power....I though for Rod Stewart that had happened 20 years ago....how wrong I was. A true showman with all the spark of youth and the sauve candor of a man that has been around the block more times than I've had hot meals.
How can you knock this concert, I've seen some shows Rod has done, but not enjoyed them, but this is Brill from start to finnish, I can only say that it isn't long enough, because there are a few classics missing.
Fantastic Brilliant Excellent.........
Some wonderful old tunes. Rod Stewart had the audience in his spell and their enthusiasm rubs off on to the viewer. Very good disc
