Intended for American television, but vetoed by Mick Jagger, this legendary 1968 concert, set in a circus tent, surfaced on bootleg video in 1995. Ringmaster Jagger cracks the whip under the big-top set, as the Rolling Stones perform several songs in costume and John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Jethro Tull, the Who, Marianne Faithfull, Eric Clapton and Taj Mahal also play. Accompanied by a full orchestra and assorted animal and juggling acts, the psychedelic melange also features Lennon leading an all-star jam of Yer Blues. The Who's segment turned up in The Kids Are Alright and other footage was cannibalised for the documentary 25 X 5: the Continuing Adventures of the Rolling Stones.
An eye-popping slice of 60s rock craziness
At last an official release of this late sixties gem !The D.V.D.release is excellent, good picture and sound quality with interesting commentary options and also plenty of rare bonus out takes thrown in for good measure.A great nostalgia trip for sixties music fans,The show has many highlights.
A collection of stones and lennon numbers set within a circus tent environment watched by an audience of nurses. Good set from lennon and clapton, 'I want to die'. Usual stones numbers. The atmosphere was meant to be exciting/on the edge but this is not quite achieved.
