time to go lingerie shopping methinks
By Catherine Lucas from Canterbury in Kent, England , 14 Aug 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
If you saw the word 'musical' and shyed away from this film, I urge you to reconsider. This is no loathsome children's sing-along vomit fest. No, a far cry from the likes of Annie and the Sound of Music, this unexpected and determinedly bizzare showstopper is a truly, witty, adult, in-joke type of film. Winslet in particular produces such a stomping performance that it did take me half the film to convince myself utterly that it was actually her, even though I of course did know that it was her I just had to make completely sure. Also, the Lingerie of Agent Provocateur in this is simply divine, so if you're into costume, this film is an absolute must. The acting, the settings, the strangeness of it all, I can't describe it in words. (maybe if I sang it...) a well earned four-star rating from me.- Was this review helpful to you?

(124)A failed experiment
By nutcase (53 reviews) from Windermere , 24 Dec 2012Don't be fooled into thinking that you may get the joke that other reviewers have missed. With this talent it must be worth a look? It really isn't although - unusually for me - I wasn't able to stand watching it until the final credits so it may have finished well.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not for everyone who likes musicals.
By a customer , 18 Apr 2011Just not my thing. Very disjointed production which wasted the talent of the actors and actresses involved. Didn't watch it to the end. Seemed to be a clumsy way to marry so good songs with a silly storyline and dirty talking.- Was this review helpful to you?

avoid this !
By a customer from avon , 17 Jan 2011Clumsy production, weak songs and plot. Terrible waste of a great cast, especially James Gandolfini ! Avoid this production at all costs !- Was this review helpful to you?

average
By a customer from Exeter, England , 11 Nov 2010i was gutted - a great cast and great names suggested this was brilliant
i didn't quiteget the whole musical take on it - perhaps a little TOO random
some great moments, but i'm afraid there were too many odd ones- Was this review helpful to you?
