and not for the explicit content. Actually thought that this film was an extremely interesting and perceptive portrayal of female sexuality.- Was this review helpful to you?

(33)reason to read the words
By greycatblue (4 reviews) from London , 13 Dec 2011good film which was made more exciting because it was subtitled and the viewer had to read the seductive words which made it arousing.- Was this review helpful to you?

Acting good but slow
By Lou28 (7 reviews) , 16 Nov 2011Personally not for me although acting very good. I wouldn't call this film an 'art form' (as someone previously had reviewed it as). I would call it as it is - which is a girl having sex with different men. A word of warning, it could possible offend someone who has experienced abuse because there is a scene where she is treated badly and sex is looked upon in a negative light. Also, it is a french film with english subtitles which i had not realised.- Was this review helpful to you?

The Emperor's clothes...
By a customer , 16 Aug 2011For any sake, avoid this film. The Emperor definitely isn't wearing any clothes, whatever the learned critics say. The 'heroine' - and the other protagonists too, for that matter - mouth a lot of deep-sounding platitudes about sexual experience, and sexual experience - and did I mention sexual experience? But when you examine them and try to find any truth or depth or authenticity about them, they turn out to be devoid of any value. I don't know how people get away with this kind of nonsense and become wealthy in the process.
Maybe if you're a fan of mindless porn, you'll love it! (But it isn't even erotic, really.)- Was this review helpful to you?

Breillat never fails.
By meganzoe (5 reviews) from England , 07 Aug 2011I have seen now quite a few of Breillat's work which includes films like Fat Girl, A Real Young Girl and Anatomy of Hell. All with the same centre around a female or females and men who aren't portrayed at their best.
I really enjoyed this because it had realistic acting (some genuine) and beautiful storyline which pulled you in. I hate HATE when people describe this as 'PORNOGRAPHY' as this IS NOT porn, porn is something you watch to get off too, now if you're a boy and get off to Breillat's work...you really need to get out a bit more. Romance is different to porn, it's arthouse.
I love french films and how open they are with sex. This film has brilliant photography and a gripping edge to it. I'd recommend checking out some of her other stuff in you really enjoy this film I.E Fat Girl and Anatomy of Hell- Was this review helpful to you?
