I saw this production when it was first screened by the BBC. It was a delight to see again some superb acting. Anthony Andrews, Christopher Strauli and Alan Rickman, to no-one's surprise, perform brilliantly . Unfortunately, their excellence is not reflected in either of the lead actors, whose inexperience is painfully obvious.
As a whole, the series is a joy to anyone who wants to see a performance of a Shakespeare play without frills, gimmicks or attempts to improve on that which can stand on its own merits.
