Beautiful production and excellent singing

Was fortunate to see this very performance at Covent Garden 11 years ago. Beautiful production. Moving performances from Alagna and Vaduva. Alagna in great voice, and still my favourite tenor. Thoroughly recommend this DVD. NB: I received BOTH discs 1 and 2.

Runs Faust a close second

I agree to a certain extent with the other review , the production and costumes are excellent and the artists also. However I would not say Alagna is my favourite tenor, I find it difficult to distinquish between top tenors. However that is because I prefer a bass voice and here Lloyd's voice is distinctive.This opera is centered around Romeo and Juliette, and therefore their duets dominate proceedings. Second only to Faust and highly recommended.
