I am not sure if the acting was that bad or it was the adaptation but in any case I am amazed I stayed awake. I knew what was coming 5 minutes before it arrived and I haven't read the book.
Can't imagine why it was ever made into a film. Acting was dreadful as was the story. Don't waste your time on this one.
With all those actors in it should have been a good film, even though it was predictable mush. They might just as well have been reading their lines from a cue card - even Sinead Cusack was pretty dire. Dreadful acting, silly, far fetched storyline - one to miss. On the plus side, the Scottish scenery was very nice.

Lots of well-known actors, and rather predictable what would happen. Overall easy viewing for winding down.
Gentle feel good Pilcher Ah!!!
I was looking forward to seeing this film as I loved the book. Lots was changed, mostly for no apparent reason, and some crucial sequences were left out. So it was a disappointment (though not as bad as the film of Pilcher's The Shell Seekers, which was a disgrace). Viewed just as a film, it worked quite well as a piece of romantic escapism, but with no bite at all.
What a lovely film.
Just curl up with a box of chocs, a glass of wine, and enjoy it.
Predictable and dreadful acting - shame because Rosamunde Pilcher's books are a good read!
You know what you are getting with this one- my husband was groaning at the cliches but i loved it- nice Mills and Boon romance, lovely settings, a great boring Saturday night saviour!
