The Barber of Seville
By a customer from Surrey , 10 Apr 2007[Highly rated reviewer]
This performance is amusingly and attractively staged with excellent use of colour and effective sets. The singing is also very good but what puts it into a diffent class is the presence of the Peruvian tenor in the cast. Definitely highly recommended.- Was this review helpful to you?

(3)Not the perfect Barber production
By riskysmith (105 reviews) , 23 Oct 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
The two other reviews shown are a little different, and I would place the production in the middle. There were some interesting features which enhanced the opera and others like the paper birds which seemed a bit unnessersary. The scenery was adequate but not the best seen and the cast were all inferior to the same characters in other productions. I still await a new production which has the perfect cast and in line with old performances of the Barber.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not exactly a cutting-edge Barber
By dspatchio (41 reviews) from Chelmsford , 06 Aug 2009Worth seeing as an example of a comic opera production almost entirely devoid of laughs. Not easy to achieve. Florez is excellent; the rest of the cast mediocre. Interestingly there is an aria for the heroine late in the second act that doesn't figure on any other recording. The orchestral sound is clear and light.- Was this review helpful to you?
