A jazz buff's tribute to Bud Powell and Lester Young; acclaimed by the critics but essentially a film for minorities.
This is probably the best film ever made about 'The Jazz Life'. Dexter Gordon who plays US tenor player Dale Turner, a mix of Lester Young and Bud Powell, has a world weary ennui froms years of playing in 50s racist America. He comes to Paris and with the help of French jazz fan Francis re-discovers the joy of music. Superb film.
