  • Killer concept

    [Highly rated reviewer]

The trailer for this oddball, genre-mashing film is, in the cold light of day, better than the movie itself. However with a more riveting script and bigger budget i think the director may have a future.

The reason i adhere to this is there are some neat little flourishes with the directing style, especially the set-up of the concept, the antagonist being made to feel almost 'human', which is no mean feat. The score for the film is also great and innovative.

The script is almost dialogue free and the murders do become tyre-some(sorry) if hilarious to start. There is a smart analogy at the beginning too but on the whole the film is actually quite perplexing and down right bizarre. Its all very Lynch/Cronenberg light. An art-house film that just upped the ante but falls away into almost dullness. Which is a shame because deep down this film is aching to be loved.

The ending suggests a commentary about the current state of Hollywood perhaps, but this film is never quite as smart or as funny as it thinks it is.

An oddball curiosity that you will probably be glad you viewed but won't again.

  • no reason to watch this film

the most bizarre film I have ever watched ..the killer is a rubber tyre , yes , a car tyre ....I kid you not . The film consists of the tyre going around exploding its victims in a `scanners` type way . The acting is poor , the special effects are basic ...the soundtrack is average , it really is a boring mess of a film .

Slow and uninteresting. Not really worth the time, but at the end I was surprised it had taken an hour to tell it's story (or lack thereof). Is that a good thing?

It seems as though the director has just tried to hard with this one. Apart from making no sense, which i forgive because I understand it's not supposed to, this film lacks any story and really does seem pretentious. It reminds me of people that want to stand out from the crowd and in the process look like a fool... that's what this film is. A try hard fool

  • Careful what you say has “no reason”

An unusual idea that was enough to make me watch it out of curiosity. At 1hr19mins, it was just about bearable. I don't see much point in slagging off the filmmakers because, for all it's failings, it's much better than I expected it to be. The sound and music are good, the special effects are great and the camerawork is pleasant to watch. The one thing I will highlight is the attempted post-modern opening speech, which tries to fill all the movie's holes before it even starts. This speech is awful, boring, inaccurate and just plain wrong. Most of the things that the character claims have no reason, do, in fact, have a reason, so: Fail. During this same speech created by the writer/director, the works of Spielberg, Polanski and Stone are mentioned. With this ill-judged reasoning, the director attempts to place himself in the same category: Fail 2. As if this weren't bad enough, the same rubbish is repeated over the closing credits. Lastly, if filmmakers are to take one thing from Tarantino films, it's that the last thing worth copying from his films are long, boring, pointless, pretentious speeches.
