The first of the Rumpole series to screened on TV as a BBC 'Play for today' Although made more than 25 years ago, the story is excellent and Leo Mc kern can be seen to sketch in this first episode , the essential attributes of his famous character: wit, hatred of humbug and a real feeling for justice and common sense.
The clothing and styles of the 70s provide an interesting backdrop also, although the occassional racist remark by some characters would not be considered PC today.
