Having served as cinematographer on Linguswamy's original Tamil hit of the same name, Jeeva takes over the directorial reins for this Bollywood remake. Abhishek Bachchan and Bhoomika Chawla assume the roles taken by Madhavan and Meera Jasmin as the lovesick couple whose romance is jeopardised by her gangster brother, played here by Mahesh Manjrekar. It's pretty much a two-act affair. In the first, boy meets girl; in the second, boy bashes brother. Jeeva's experience behind the camera shows in the confident visuals, but his pacing lacks variation, either being soul-searchingly sensitive or slam-bam frantic. Moreover, the soundtrack by Himesh Reshammiya and lyricist Sameer lacks originality.
A very good film, a different type of love story. Good comedy parts as well as excellent fight scenes and a great allround performance from Abhishiekh probably with his best performance so far and is starting to live up to expectations. Bhoomika Chawla is also very good with her role. Some good music. The film is well paced and always moving ahead. Overall a good film to watch with something for everyone.
A girl falls in love with a boy against her family's wishes. Gee, that's only been done about a million times before...
It is well directed with some beautiful locations. Songs are pleasant if not particularly memorable. Abishek's acting improves with every movie, although he still imitates his dad's mannerisms too much, especially in his dancing.
The new girl, Bhoomika Chawla, is very plain looking, and it is difficult to see how she got this leading role unless she has some family connections in the industry.
There is also more of the intrusive product placement that is plagueing Bollywood movies these days.
A run-of-the-mill movie, not awful but just not very good.
