For over a decade Joey Gazelle (Paul Walker) has successfully juggled his conflicting roles as loving family man and low-ranking mobster. However, when Joey ignores the mob's explicit instructions to dispose of the gun used in the fatal shooting of a corrupt cop during a bungled drugs operation, he unwittingly puts his loved ones in danger. Joey decides to stash the weapon in his own basement, just in case he should need some future collateral against his employers. Unfortunately, Joeys 10 year old son, Nicky (Alex Neuberger) and his best friend, Oleg (Cameron Bright), stumble across the hidden gun. Worse still, Oleg decides to use it to shoot his physically abusive stepfather who also happens to be connected to the Russian mafia. Thus Joey is forced to embark on a nightmarish 18-hour journey to find Oleg and the gun before his own gang, the Russians or the bent cop (Chazz Palminteri) hell-bent in profiting from the missing weapon, get there first.

Saw this at the cinema not even knowing what it was about-not bigtime actors so didnt expect much but it was fantastic-a true 18 rater the way 18s should be! Very violent and messy, VERY graphic, and beware a controversial scene-very shocking!!!!!! but with a strong story line and a wicked twist keeps you on the edge of your seat. Wont say more incase I give away the story but if you like action mixed with thriller and good stories and great acting it MUST NOT BE MISSED!!!!!
Note to idiots: if you turn a film off after 5 minutes, you haven't seen it, so don't waste time by 'reviewing' it. Beneath all the nudity/sex, language and violence (none of which bother me by the way, in fact it's quite refreshing that every now and again a writer/director refuses to pander to the PG-13 crowd) there is a well-written thriller, with some good character development and dialogue. The camerawork does occasionally veer towards the ADD-style that ruined Man on Fire, but it is sensibly kept under control and remains the right side of stylish. A good, no-nonsense, adult thriller.
