Sydney Pollack must have known before he embarked on this remake of Billy Wilder's 1954 comedy classic, that the ghosts of Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn and William Holden would be hovering over his production. Yet, with canny casting and some subtle updating, he succeeded in coming up with a charming variation on this Cinderella story, in which the chauffeur's daughter romances the billionaire boss. Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford take a while to settle into their roles, unlike Greg Kinnear, who gives a vibrant debut performance as Ford's brattish brother. Fans of the original won't be satisfied, but, by the end, there's no doubt Pollack achieves a sparkle to match the picture's undoubted polish.
A waste of effort for all concerned: the story seems tired, the performances are inferior, the romance and comedy have been dissipated, and there is very little left to engage the attention, other than to wonder why anyone should want to remake the Wilder

Harrison Ford is wonderfully witty and surprisingly romantic in this fabulous remake. .................................................. ....................... Julia Ormond is fantastic as Sabrina. .................................................. ......................Greg Kinnear puts in another superb performance. .................................................. ..................& the supporting cast are all great!
Well it is heresy, isn't it, to prefer this version to the Audrey Hepburn classic, but nonetheless I do. Ormond is every bit as beautiful as Hepburn, but more human, and it is simply much more believable that a vibrant young woman would fall for Harrison Ford rather than Humphrey Bogart (OK, Lauren Bacall notwithstanding).
Any movie with Harrison Ford in it is sure to be a hit, and this is no exception. Ford plays a seemingly callous businessman who as the story develops, grows more and more endearing. Together with Julia Ormond who plays her role elegantly and sweetly, they bring an element of classic romance to this beautifully directed modern-day fairytale.
this film is the dvd equifalent of easy listening.
a true feel good movie for the real romantics out there.
funny sad and best of all the wife loved it and it kept her happy.
but for all you macho men out there dont be ashamed , admit you loved it and the wife will love you all the more.
enjoy it i did.

enjoyable remake of 1954 movie about a chauffuur,s daughter with a crush on the handsome younger brother in the rich family where her father works.when he shows interest in her,his older brother tries to woo her away-for financial reasons.but she falls in love with him,and him with her.better than 1954 version ormond & ford work well together.enjoy!
A good film on it's own, but not a patch on the original.
Less humour and no magnetic personalities in this film. Harrison Ford is not a patch on Bogart, and Julia Ormond not a patch on Hepburn.
If you like the original give this a miss unless you don't mind disappointment.
THE STORY WAS OK, FILM ABOUT HALF AN HOUR TO LONG BUT HARRISON FORD A BIT MISCAST AS THE OLDER BROTHER, TO MANY IFFY CONNOTATIONS
A real feel good movie. Better than the original. Great photography, splendid background music, and superb fashions enhance a good cast.
a take it or leave it harrison ford, romance in paris.
I love Harrison Ford normally so rented this on strength of him being in it. Seen the original which I enjoyed but don't like the stars so was open to this version. But there just wasn't any chemistry and Harrison Ford was very wooden. Totally disappointed!
