REQUIEM is the second feature-length film sequel to the popular anime series SAIYUKI. A blend of action, fantasy, and comedy that is based partly on a 16th-century Chinese folktale, and partly on a modern-day Japanese manga, the SAIYUKI franchise follows Buddhist monk Sanzo on his sacred mission to destroy demons across the land of Shangri-la. Sanzo is joined in his quest by three misfits, each with his own particular skills: the half-demon Goku, the magic-wielding Hakkai, and the lucky gambler Gojyo. In REQUIEM, the quartet are lured by a beautiful siren to a dangerous shrine fraught with an insidiously new form of demonic terror.

I've read books 1-8 of this manga series, so when I saw there was a movie I had to see it. Wonderful movie. Loved it.
I would recommend reading the books first as the movie is set somewere in the middle. Also contains some flashback which you wont understand unless you've read the books.Other then that a great film!!!!
Im a huge Saiyuki fan, but I do agree with the last reviewer who said that the film will make alot more sense if you have read the manga or seen the Anime series. That aside i love this film because I love the characters and the manga so much.
