the title is deceiving. if you were thinking of watching a musical, you'd be very disappointed. it is the making of bombay dreams. not all that exciting at that either.- Was this review helpful to you?

(6)Hoorah for Rahman
By salmanfan (143 reviews) from London , 24 May 2009Saw the show when it first arrived in London. So was ok background. Great to see Rahman work his magic in front of Andrew Webber. What a great composer.- Was this review helpful to you?

Stunning insight into a sadly missed musical!
By Gari from Manchester, England , 29 Dec 2005As a massive Andrew Lloyd Webber fan i'd say I'm rather hard to disappoint - however disappointment wasn't even an option with this DVD. It was simply fantastic! I was enthralled to see how the musical came together and all of the hard work etc that went into getting this production ready for the World to see. A useful tool and highly enjoyable viewing for any musical theatre fan!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Not what I expected
By estelle4 from Much Wenlock , 23 Jan 2005Interesting run down on the 'making of' Bombay Dreams.
Not quite what I'd expected as the song/dance routines are only shown in sections, and not the full running of the show.
The filming in India was interesting where rehearsals were explored, crossing culture of Eastern and Western dance and music.
Overall it was entertaining and a razzle dazzle for the eyes.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not a Show Recording
By TomWHSHHeath from England , 23 Jan 2005This is documentary about the Westend show in London, not a live recording of the show - although there are some clips.- Was this review helpful to you?

Bombay slumber
By DeeTee from Surrey , 21 Jan 2005I enjoyed the London musical. This DVD offers some background, including interviews from performers and others. So it pretty well does what it says on the tin.
So why did I find it disappointing?
There are some interesting features. In particular, you don't often get to see the rehearsals or to appreciate the effort, on and off stage, that goes into putting a show together. But having appreciated all that, I really wanted to see a little more of the end product.
You do get four songs from the show and the videos of two singles, but it left me wanting more. Not in the sense that a good show or film should leave you wanting more, but in the sense that it leaves you a little empty. I was particularly disappointed that the fountain scene did not feature.
I had expected this DVD to be a sampler - exciting its audience to want to see the show. I am glad that I saw the show first. This DVD would not have encouraged me to book.
If you have seen the show, this DVD will give you a little insight into the background. If you have not seen the show, don't let the DVD put you off. See the show anyway. The show is much better than the DVD.- Was this review helpful to you?
