Salaam Bombay review

Earnest and ultimately pessimistic view of life for the street urchins of Bombay. Presumably it's changed for the better in the last fourteen years, but I wouldn't bet on it. There are still a few rich and many many poor in India, despite their so called new more well off status. The acting, all amateur, was very very good, and in particular Shafiq Sayed as the boy was brilliant, somehow depicting a boy of eleven with an old man's expression in his eyes. Wonderful.
