Sam is one of the best series on coal mining and the effect it had on the people and the communities that they lived in.The whole series is a joy to watch .- Was this review helpful to you?

sam
By mark leather from secret , 14 Mar 2008I cannot wait until the rest of the dvds arrive. This is when drama went in for acting rather than good looking.- Was this review helpful to you?

interesting
By a customer from Clarach, Wales , 05 Sep 2007I found the series of 'Sam' interesting from an entertaining point of view, plus sociological and how relationships were, the men being very controlled in their emotions and the women having to ask permission, but seemingly were able to get their own way by manipulation. The cast is well drawn in their roles, however there are the odd exits that seem very amateurish, but they do not detract from the story. I would be interested on how much research was done for accuracy in how it was actually to be poor and hungry. There was a hint at it when Sam's grandfather killed one of Sam's pigeon's, but it did not impact greatly. I look forward to the rest of the discs.- Was this review helpful to you?
