Another great piece of film making from South Korea. Two friends plan to finance a trip to Europe by prostituting themselves, but after one accidentally dies in a police raid, her friend decides to give the money back to the men who have paid them. The story is really about the strained relationship between the girl and her policeman father, who finds out what she is doing, but cannot talk to her about it. In his frustration, the father eventually kills one of his daughters clients. At times deeply moving, this is a well acted film that will linger with me for a while.
This is an interesting film with a promising story, good acting, beautiful photography and a few surprising twists and turns. Yet somehow it doesn't quite work - firstly because the logic of the plot leaves a lot to be desired, the theme of underage sex is unsuitable bagatellised, the dialogue is often unnatural and the character's actions quite frankly unbelievable at times. In the end it feels shallow and the pretty images just don't seem to be enough to do the good story idea real justice. Finally one comment for those attracted by the 18 certificate - this is an art movie, not an erotic film and if you are looking for naked flesh look elswhere.
Acting was very good, not great character development, slow paced as most Far Eastern movies are, but had it's surprises which kept it interesting.
If you hate subtitles don't go for this film, as it is full of subtitles from start to finish.
