Documentary/Art Movie - A Masterpiece of both
By beaumont (1 review) , 21 Jan 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
This movie is one of my absolute favourites and I know a few friends who rank it in their personal top 5s. To start it really is breathtaking just from even a technical standpoint, entirely filmed in 70mm film (IMAX standard), joining only a handful of feature-length movies to be shot through these kinds of lenses. Every shot is gorgeous to look at and if you have Blu-Ray this is exactly the kind of movie you bought it for. Anyone who has a surround sound will be treated to a dynamic score with mixes for both 5. 1 and 7. 1 systems. Though there is no narration or plot there is plenty to take in and if given your attention will provoke no end of thoughts. The film is masterfully edited to balance and contrast different themes and concepts but leaves you to come to your own conclusions. It never feels too heavy or overwhelming, but isn't slow-paced either. There are many stories and messages woven in here ready for you to pick out. I do feel for rjdjones if he could not distinguish any of the links between the shots, that was the time you were supposed to think.- Was this review helpful to you?

(12)A moving visual feast
By a customer , 19 Apr 2013Amazing film that had me completely transfixed. The image quality is unbelievable and this alone seems to draw you in. The music is also a major part of the film - so best watched with a decent sound system. Its not for everyone - some people will never a like a film with no narrative or 'plot'.- Was this review helpful to you?

beautiful art documentary
By a customer , 25 Mar 2013There are moment's when i wanted it to speed up and slow down to my own personal taste. I like the fact it had a moral teaching and it put matter's of living and human behaviour in perspective. I enjoyed some of the music and it suited the places in the documentary.- Was this review helpful to you?

A must see for people with skin like armadillos
By montpelier (32 reviews) from Roberts End , 16 Mar 2013This is one film that all the know nothing politicians and right wing bigots with their me me me attitude who are continually chasing thier money god, usually made up of i dont want to pay any tax or have any red tape (society rules) to hamper my rape and plllage of the world......yanks born of the english, who don a skin thickness of an armadillo. Interesting one revue on here says it should be seen in blue way, as if it is not horror enough watching man rape, pillage, plunder this planet's people, animals and environment-but; ' we're worth it'- Was this review helpful to you?

Nirvana on Blue ray
By Coconutter (1 review) , 11 Mar 2013First time I have watched anything like this and having just upgraded to Blue ray and sound bar I thought I'd give it a go. WOW! it put me on another planet. Some may get bored but for a stunning visual and sound experience I highly recommend you give it a try, Just get the house to yourself, turn the lights off, turn the mobile off and wait for the hairs to rise on the back of your neck!- Was this review helpful to you?

Beautifully shot but flawed
By Progeny_Of_The_Great_Apocalypse (14 reviews) from Newport , 05 Mar 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
An interesting and grand exploration of everything and everyone around us. Samsara is definitely one for the blu ray experience. The idea of birth, death and rebirth in all aspects of man, animal, vegetable, mineral etc is the tone set for this visual feast of imagery. I would recommend this highly as a one time watch; a beautiful exploration of the planet, but no commentary and no story really give samsara no replay value. One or two clearly staged scenes betray the documentary value and message of this film, but otherwise a crisp and visually striking film. I did find myself dozing off from time to time; unfortunately a few of the scenes are a little dull, and the ethereal quality of the film will relax you to the point of sleep. A very attractive film - watch it once.- Was this review helpful to you?
