When you hear the word 'samurai' you might be fooled into expecting an historical epic. If thats what your looking for, you won't find it here. However, if its a kickass, crisply animated, humorous anime with a hip hop soundtrack and fight scenes that flow beautifully your after, select this DVD right now.
From the makers of Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo is about two very different swordsmen (Jin and Mugen) who get saved from execution by a waitress named Fuu. In return, the boys promise to help her find a 'samurai smelling of sunflowers' and not kill each other in the process.
The animation style is fluid and cleverly edited. Particularly brilliant is the scene changes, which cut in time with a DJ scratch.
No, its not historically accurate but nor does it promise to be. What it is is an original piece of viewing pleasure which i recommend fully, totally and whole-heartedly.
Very good series, I definetly will keep watching
