    [Highly rated reviewer]

This is a wonderful animation. The story behind it is captured superbly. I haven't seen the first 3 volumes, but only this one, but no matter what i could follow along with everything perfectly.

This is forsure one of the best films which i have seen, animation or not. You learn so much truth in this movie about human characteristics and also what it means to be lost and then loved and found.

There isn't any real fight scenes in it but again, that makes it a beautiful film.

Samurai X feels like a tough struggle between selling Samurai action, teen romance and a documentary, meditative approach to traditional values and 'stigma psychology'.

Reflection is a little gem. The drawing style is accurate and sensitive, carefully courting Manga cliches without loosing expression. The funky glasses big boss towards the middle is a bit of downer, otherwise this is a beautiful, sad and thoughtful cartoon.

Oh my god!!! words truly don't give this series justice. I watched this series from beginning to end (4 discs in total) in one day and i was left with this sad, empty but good feeling inside at the end of it. Truly a masterpiece.

  • Too slow

Quite a dull finish to the series, although much better than volume three ( what where they thinking ? ).

The animation was very good, to the same standard as volume one and two.

There where too many scenes where characters are just standing around feeling sad or regretful. I know kenshin/shinta is now remorseful but an hour and a half of him wandering around feeling sorry for himself was a bit much.

The ending was quite good though.

As animes go its unlikely you'll find a better series than this one, Samurai X has excelent characters that are masterfully developed throughout and a story that draws you in to Kenshin's world both perfectly brought together with astounding animation. If you like anime you must not miss Samurai X.

It was a relief to see them going back to the same style as the first dvd.

Interesting ending to a very good anime..

if your going to rent this I would recommend skipping the 2nd dvd (movie) which was very poor in comparison.
