This was an exceptionally good film, admittedly harrowing in parts, but nonetheless tugged at the heart strings. The dialogue was excellent and believable, and Kristen Scott Thomas gave a performance of totally convincing perfection.- Was this review helpful to you?

By sailonby (110 reviews) from Exeter , 15 Jun 2013The early scenes made a considerable impact but, as the film dragged on, the script became more manufactured, with a superfluous sub-plot and clichés; such as the hunt from house to house, which was almost a montage in 1950s style (what about trying the telephone? It would save a heap of taxi fares) and the tired old journalist-hunts-down-story device. By the end we had lapsed into sentimentality. I like and admire French cinema but this is more Hollywood than French. The scriptwriter seems to have cashed in on the Holocaust to chuck out a film to earn his keep. It may pass the time but it's not a good film - too disjointed and contrived.- Was this review helpful to you?

Love corrupted by evil.
By Glenkell (4 reviews) , 31 May 2013I do like a good plot to a story and this has it. It is an immensely sad tale and the person at the centre of it blames herself for what happens. Superb film

Obsession for the flat
