[Highly rated reviewer]This was an exceptionally good film, admittedly harrowing in parts, but nonetheless tugged at the heart strings. The dialogue was excellent and believable, and Kristen Scott Thomas gave a performance of totally convincing perfection.

Sad and beautifulBy BenEW (1 review) , 02 Oct 2013Kristin Scott Thomas i love you,you are a brilliant actress! What a great film and sad story. I highly recommend this film...!
For a younger audience.By NunkyTed (29 reviews) , 08 Sep 2013Given that this film is a Certificate 12 the horror of the shameful way in which many of the French collaborated with the Nazis was only lightly touched upon. The mawkishly contrived ending of this film was a disappointment too.
Not to be missedBy a customer , 07 Sep 2013I just loved this film and watched it when I was off sick from work! I cried about 4 times which is always a sign of a moving film. Kristin Scott Thomas was so convincing and I loved her directness and confidence in dealing with her husband. She had such screen presence at all times. The film slides effortlessly back and forwards between the 1940s and present day and keeps the viewer enthralled with the twists in the plot, interspersed with on the edge of your seat, tense moments. The scenes of mothers being literally torn from their children in the holding camp were difficult to watch but left the viewer with a raw appreciation of what it must have been like for these normal people. This film must not be missed.
Vichy collaborators.By Flicfan (10 reviews) , 03 Sep 2013Excellent acting by Kristin Scott Thomas. A sad story but very compelling to watch. Very well told and needs to be seen. Recommended.
A beautiful storyBy Flurie (4 reviews) , 26 Aug 2013A touching reminder that real people suffered during and after the war but without need for violence or effect. Beautifully filmed and interesting. I was hooked from beginning to end.
