7th May 2011

with is cinematic style- lush and indulgent, one can luxuriate in visual riches and privilege, just like the baekelands did. with its texture- aggressive, over-refined and moody, one gets a sense of confusion, and discomfort- a glimpse into the terrifying emotional extremity of the baekelands. with its ambitious narrative span one can trace the the entire lifelines of the baekelands. but can one really understand them? and this is precisely where savage grace is at its most irresistible. it does not reveal itself too easily. as a study of human behaviour, it is precious.
