Fantastic. This film is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. The story is a remake of a classic gangster movie, this time round though it is set on the sun washed beaches of Miami.
Young Antonio Montana has been set free from a Cuban jail and sent to Miami on a boat (this film is based on the Cuban 'Boat Lift', in which Fiedel Castro sent the dregs of his jails over to the US unaware to US officials.
He soon begins working for a drug kingpin and gets very ambitious!- Was this review helpful to you?

(185)Compelling movie
By a customer , 21 Mar 2013Worth watching as one of the 70's classics. My 23 year son thought it was a good watch, I watched it out of curiosity and was relieved to see it wasn't as violent as reviews had said in the press. After the first violent scene I wasn't that keen to watch but Montana's character is brilliantly portrayed by Pacino and it's fascinating watching his character's moods during his rise and fall.- Was this review helpful to you?

Scarface: Silly inferior remake of 1932 classic gangster flick!
By a customer , 13 Jun 2012'Scarface' is a remake of the superior 1932 gangster film entitled 'Scarface' The Shame of a Nation' starring Paul Muni. This version is memorable only for the stylish theatrical poster and the quotation; 'welcome to my little friend'. The film is surprisingly tedious and overlong. This may come as a surprise but the remake of 'Scarface' was not a critical success and the passing of time does not make improve things. It seems that it is cool for young lads to say that they have seen it but there really is not much to it except boredom. For some decent gangster films watch the terrific 1932 version, The Godfather trilogy, The early James Cagney films and 'Goodfellas'. There are a few others I failed to mention but please avoid this popular stupid remake.- Was this review helpful to you?
