The scariest thing about Scary Movie 3 is that Pop Idol's Simon Cowell is in it. Granted, it may not be as disturbing as an appearance by Pete Waterman, but it does show the extent of Cowell's infiltration of US popular culture. Director David Zucker and his Naked Gun co-writer Pat Proft helm this third entry in the horror-spoof franchise, which, though not as good as the original, is certainly an improvement on Scary Movie 2. This time around, television reporter Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris) investigates a planned alien invasion of a farm owned by Tom (Charlie Sheen), while a mysterious video kills all who watch it. All kinds of references are dragged kicking and screaming into the bedraggled plot, from 8 Mile to The Others, and there are some inspired moments to be found along the way (Leslie Nielsen as a goofy American president is always a joy). But, because of the over-reliance on recycled gags, this is just not as funny as it thinks it is.
This is less a movie and more a succession of gags at the expense of recent horror movies; some work, many don't and the slapstick becomes tiresome before the end.
"...David Zucker piles one-liners upon set-pieces upon spoofs until you think you're going to die laughing..."
This film starts well with a nice Ring spoof, but then it tries to include too many of the recent horror/ sci fi hits. The most disturbing thing is the 'humour' based on gang culture, guns and murder. If this is what young black men think of as amusement it is unsurprising that five of them have been the victims of their gun and knife carrying 'bros' in the last month. Add to this the jokes about paedophiles and this is a very unpleasant film.
I am.. pretty much the motto of the Scary Movie series. The third installment pretty much lampoons the big horror releases of the 2003 namely The Ring and Signs, and for some unknown reason includes 8 Mile? -
The faire is very much the standard of all the lampoon type movies, much parody and altering of the storylines to make them fit together. Throw in some attractive half dressed actors/actresses for titilation and a handful of jokes and you've got the movie.
As usual a vast array of cameos. On the whole I think you'll know what to expect from the film, it doesn't really divert from the standard. It provides a few chuckles and some amusement in a well tried manner.
The DVD is definately a bonus, and may even stand up to a rewatch for those that went to the flicks, as the deleted scenes are often more amusing than the bits they left in. With the bonus of an alternative ending (which is definately an improvement) to boot you'll probably walk away with a reasonable level of satisfaction.
This film was rubbish!!! It was a waste of time watching it and i severly recommend that it should be avoided by any movie lover. I spent most of the film laughing at its patheticness rather than its jokes. Please avoid at all costs.
Scary Movie was a great film, taking the best elements from TV shows like Police Squad and films like Naked Gun and adapting so to be accepted by the new teenage generation of the twenty first century. Regarded by many a pubescent as the funniest film ever made, Scary Movie appealed, and the Wayans brothers had finally and deservedly hit the big time.
Then came Scary Movie 2. Fair enough, the first film was a success and along as there are a few laughs along the way you can forgive for the need to cash-in.
And now
the release of Scary Movie 3. The only thing you need to know is that the Wayans had nothing to do with this film (other than authorising the use of previous characters).
However I will indulge you further, if you havent decided to rent something else already. The gags are poor, rather than being witty and shocking like in the previous instalments, they are predictable and forgettable. The acting is okay, but I was disappointed to see the number of big faces. Rather than adding class to the Scary Movie 3, they do nothing but hinder it, Charlie Sheens performance in particular would have brought tears to his fathers eyes.
Avoid.
1 in 8 jokes were fresh. If you liked Hot Shots you'll love this, my girlfriend needed oxygen! If you hated hotshots, as I did, steer clear!

Filled with plenty of funny moments but the movie is more of a sketch show than anything, lampooning, it seems, whatever movies came to mind at the time. The amount of stuff cut from the movies (as shown in the DVD extras) shows that they perhaps tried to pull it together a little but not quite enough. In the end, there are still plenty of laughs to make it worthwhile if you're into the Airplane! sort of humour but this is certainly the weakest of the three so far.
some laughs, but very cobbled together....Charlie Sheen was good, but Leslie Nielson was not given enough material in the film to make an impact, it just felt a bit tired.....

Dont listen to all the other people this is a great film you have got to see this!!
Still funny but the format is getting tired now.worth a giggle but not one for the collection.
There are so many gags in this movie you'll have to watch it twice to get them all. It's alot of toilet /sexual innuendo and people getting hit in the knackers kind of humour but I defy you not to at least smile. A couple of beers certainly helps but even my wife who's the type that loves french political dramas in black n white laughed out loud a few times. If you've seen the preceding movies give 3 a try, it's a blast.
Zero stars for originality but to be honest that was probably the point, unless you are up to date with recent horror movies you may not understand the references to other movies (the Ring, Signs etc).
Obviously the Humour is dark and the scene in which Micheal Jackson (impersonator) appears hovers on the border of taste.
I thought is was very funny, any way and thoroughly enjoyed it. The last sketch took too long though and I did start to get bored towards the end. Its ten minutes too long.

"...Lewd, outrageous and enormously entertaining comedy..."
