The hurdle for anyone here is whether they really need to see Quasthoff, a marvellous singer but thalidomide sufferer. With the best will in the world I think most would prefer a CD. Different to actually hear him live but on film it's all too tempting to shut one's eyes. The singing and Barenboim's piano playing are excellent, the extras ok but not adding much - for those who are classical music fans will know it and having to follow the english subtitles is tiresome(these are arguably the best reason for hearing the work on DVD rather than on CD).
