The cast and director of 2002's disappointing cartoon adaptation reunite for this infinitely superior sequel. Sensibly focusing on Mystery Inc's most popular duo — Shaggy and Scooby — the film follows the newly disgraced team as they try to unmask a villain whose monster machine is re-creating all their classic foes. Although some of the effects are ropey, the decision to up the excitement levels with multiple spooky creatures is a prudent one. The enjoyable visual overload makes it easier to ignore the insubstantial plot, particularly when much of the colourful action concerns the dithering hilarity of Matthew Lillard's excellent Shaggy. Turning Sarah Michelle Gellar's drippy Daphne into a Buffy-style butt-kicker is an obvious audience-pleaser too, while scene-stealer Seth Green adds strong support as a bumbling museum curator with a potentially darker side. Overall the movie is more faithful to Hanna-Barbera's animated series than its predecessor, even if the CGI Scooby still doesn't quite work.
A highly enjoyable roller-coaster ride, Scooby Doo 2 is a super special-effects driven comedy of the type we don't see very often on our screens. I didn't see the first film but rented this one due to the positive reviews and wasn't at all disappointed. Shaggy and Scooby are stars and the rest of the gang do the business as well making this a great live-action version of the cartoon, and thankfully that utter b*****d Scrappy Doo is nowhere to be seen.
From a nostalgic point of view this film is very faithful to the cartoons I used to watch as a kid. Shaggy's voice is excellent. It even captures the 70's feel, with the style of clothing.
Great for parents who used to watch the cartoon series and can now sit with their own children and enjoy. The occasional toilet humour jokes are thrown in for good measure.
A good film to rent, but wouldn't recommend buying, unless you're a big fan.
It's SCOOBY DOO! he's the funniest dog on screen, to hell with the plot and naff acting, I'm 39, my son is 6, we both larfed and larfed all the way through. If you want deep and meaningful, then get Kramer vs Kramer or Schindlers list. This is exactly what it says on the tin. SCOOBY DOO!! Check your brain at the door and enjoy it for what it is..... funny!

Having hated the first Scooby film I was surprised to find myself enjoying this one. But I think it was because it was truer to the cartoon version.
Very silly film, kids will love it and if you can remember being one you will too.
This film is,in my opinion, better than the original which is rare for a sequel these days.It was very entertaining to watch. The visual effects were done well and my kids were kept glued to the screen.
probably more for the kids than just adults but I am sure the parents who used to watch the cartoons as kids will like to watch it though probably not own it.
if you hated the first movie then don't bother with this one as it is more of the same kind of thing.

our sons loved this film, it was really funny in places would definately watch again
I prefered the first film and thought that this one relied too much on (often quite poor) CGI. However the kids loved it, rewatched it and now want their own copy, so what do I know.
This was fun! I enjoyed it a lot. And I'm in my late 30s...
The acting was just as good as the last one, and Scoob is just as cute as ever! Boy, I want to take that dog home.
The only things I would say (and I'm sure I'm too sensitive for my own good) is that I found some of the music a bit scary (yep, I said I was sensitive!) cos it reminded me of 'Candyman' and the main villain is REALLY scary...
My fav lines - 'We're gonna die'
'Think positive!'
'We're gonna die quickly!'
Great!
kids loved it as much as the first, played four times in a row!
