Quentin Tarantino has a lot to answer for. His slick genre pastiches have inspired a whole slew of imitations of his imitations — some great, some grim. Here's one of the better ones: a sweaty Tex-Mex border yarn about a cross-country driver who's daft enough to give a ride to a couple of drug runners. Though ultimately it's a scorpion that lacks a genuine sting in its tale, the plot is twisty and violent enough to hold the interest. And there's the added attraction of a superior cast which, in addition to Britain's Alfred Molina, also includes Matthew McConaughey, the hunk whom Hollywood is still trying to turn into its latest golden boy.

    this is okay

this film is okay, I ASSUME IT'S A LOW BUDGET EARLY PROJECT AND CONSIDERING THAT IT'S QUITE GOOD, some of the shots are really good, and the lead actor does a good job, but it's not REALLY ground breaking, probably needs a bit of work in the edit suite, MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY FANS WILL BE DISAPPOINTED AS HE IS ONLY IN IT FOR A FEW MINITES and he's not that good in it, Time To kill and Newton Boys shows of his early talent much better even though it says staring on the cover.
