Screw's too looseBy NDG (172 reviews) from Oxfordshire , 09 Oct 2011
[Highly rated reviewer]Gritty in its use of language and violence but way too predictable both in its plot and casting. It is also hampered by an over-the-top storyline, some acting to match and a script so cliched you can guess the next line before it's spoken.
While there are a couple of decent scenes and reasonable performances, these are too to get the film to get out of jail. Not terrible - but it could, and should, have been better.

IT MIGHT GO ON AT A CAT A PRISONBy krissyk (10 reviews) from neath , 27 Mar 2013Quite a harsh look into prison life from more of a screw's point of view. However the things that went on were very over the top. Yes there is confrontation, fights, verbal etc but this i feel isn't prison as it really is. Cat A where alot of lifer's are kept perhaps but lower level's of security; guy's just wanna get out. There is to much to lose than starting a riot...but like i said not a bad interpitation
CORRUPT PRISON - Watch your back...By ZenZii (192 reviews) from Preston , 29 Dec 2012James D'arcy played the part as a 'screw' brilliantly. Starting his job as a prison officer he had to leartn the ropes and find out who was who. But after work there was plenty of drinking and eventually drugs. When he was spiralling out of control you felt it, you felt his pain and anguish. Noel Clarke (out of Dr Who) played the big player inside prison was also well chosen for the part and he played the villian really well. As for the ending, well, brilliant. Believable film and no boring, dragging out i expected. x x x
NOT BADBy open (376 reviews) , 22 Dec 2012Not bad at all but the running time was a little long. D'arcy was excellant as he was playing against type. Id like to see more from Travis as he is an interesting director.
Average Prison DramaBy GaryI (785 reviews) from March, Cambs , 03 Dec 2012A reasonably entertaining prison thriller with the usual nastiness that tends to accompany Brit films of this type. An army vet' with PTSD becomes a prison officer, haas drink & drug problem and struggles with corruption. All been done before, so nothing new here but its ok.
Violent Prison DramaBy Oakwoodrich (16 reviews) from Romford , 09 Nov 2012Ok sorta film if you like gritty British prison drama, biggest draw for me, James D'Arcy what a fanciable bloke he is, rent it just for him !
