Great feel good film!By RainbowJoBirko (123 reviews) from Derbyshire, England , 23 Nov 2010
[Highly rated reviewer]Great film, with an invite to a preview of the film I was unsure what to expect, all I knew was it was a Disney film, based on true events, starring a horse.
It was exactly that but was so much more, the awe inspiring story of an unlikely competitor succeeding, not only succeeding but setting a yet to be broken record.
With a fabulous all star cast ( was shocked to see Nelsan Ellis from True Blood in a Disney Flick), a great soundtrack and some great camera angles, I really enjoyed this. It is not everyone's cup of tea but if you like a feel good film then give it a go!

A non-starterBy Tedicus (22 reviews) from London , 14 Mar 2012I had intial high hopes for this movie based on previous reviews but after the first hour was up, I had already begun getting bored and irritated by the main characters. I was aware of Secretariat before watching it and knew he was considered one of the great racehorses of the 20th century. I have seen many equine based films, Phar Lap, Sea Biscuit and many more but this must rank as one of the worst. Secretariat doesn't invoke any feeling of competitiveness nor is it a rags to riches, against all odds true story like Phar Lap is. John Malkovich is totally out of place here as the trainer. He looks like he hasn't ever been around a horse in his life. His character just like Diane Lane is plain dull. This is certainly no Phar Lap or Sea Biscuit. Instead we have a rich family/owners moaning and groaning their way through the movie and trying to make more money but yet complaining what most normal everyday families deal with day in day out. Secretariat although a good horse was never a story that would make a good movie but I think its made worse by the poor acting, bad race scenes and lack of intensity. Even the horse playing Sec has no prescence, no greatness about him. Not sure why people are saying the race scenes are spectacular. These people probably have no frame of reference. I'd suggest they watch Phar Lap. Now that's a great horse film of a true champion who was brought up under difficult times.
Too slowBy beckyboo100 (7 reviews) , 05 Feb 2012A nice family film but a bit too slow for my liking! Also a bit predictable. Based on a true story.
I cried and cried and criedBy MrTony (23 reviews) from Keighley , 08 Dec 2011Just brilliant. Never really noticed Diane Lane in other films, but what a talent. Like a film star of old, she shines on screen. The only gripe I would have is that at the climax of the film a certain character doesn't say 'That'll do horse, that'll do'. You know who I mean.
Buy it for everyone you know and tell everyone about it. It's Disney, but not as you know it.
Secretariat FilmBy a customer , 23 Nov 2011Great film! We enjoyed the story and found it very interesting. It is a slow moving film but visually shot well. It was quite emotional in some parts. We enjoyed the racing scenes and couldn't help but cheer on secretariat. Great for a sunday afternoon or if you want a relaxing feel-good film.
