Directed by Farrelly Brothers protege J.B. Rogers (AMERICAN PIE 2, SAY IT ISN'T SO), the made-for-TV biopic SEE ARNOLD RUN documents Schwarzenegger's evolution from action star to political pundit by interweaving parallel storylines covering the two distinct phases in his life and career. German actor Jurgen Prochnow (DAS BOOT) stars as the middle-aged Arnold, who, with the help of his wife Maria Shriver (Mariel Hemingway), navigates through California's tumultuous 2003 gubernatorial recall to become the state's 38th governor. Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger doppelganger Roland Kickinger tackles the role of young Arnold as he attempts to win his fourth Mr. Olympia bodybuilding title in 1974. Based on Nigel Andrews's gushing biography TRUE MYTHS: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, SEE ARNOLD RUN offers a revealing portrait of a man whose drive and charisma propelled him into the upper echelons of the American Dream.

Run, run, run away
I think it's probably my fault this film is rubbish.
Being British, I quite naturally assumed this would be a rather amusing is somewhat nasty satire. I could never have imagined anyone would dream of making a complementary film about Conan's rise to the political elite.
Imagine my horror at realising this is excactly what it is. This is so pro-Arnie it's sickening. I suspect it was actually written by Arnie (assuming he can write that is). Horrible, sycophantic, sentimental old twaddle.
Steer clear of it.

Arnold ran
Strong performances by the two actors playing Arnold present and past make this watchable. Jurgen Prochnow perfectly captures the sheer egotism of the man though is perhaps not a brilliant physical match.
This was much better than critics had led me to expect. -
