Slaughtering the Critics
By a customer , 21 Feb 2012[Highly rated reviewer]
Since reading the reviews on this film, I have realised that I will never choose to see a movie based upon the reactions of another person. Therefore I guess it is hypocritical for me to choose to write this review, but felt it necessary after reading the reviews this film received.
Session 9 is my favourite film of all time. I grew up watching horror movies, and therefore find it extremely difficult to find one which affects me in any way..but this film terrified me!!
I will admit that if your taste leans towards the fast, mtv styled movies that were bombarded with today, then it is likely that you will not enjoy this film, which chooses to set up character and then build on atmosphere, focusing on dread, rather than have you jump every five mins at an axe wielding maniac.
I can't say enough good things about this movie and recommend it to true horror movie buffs who can appreciate its slow tone, and have a love of psychological/suspence films, for them the pay off at the end is worth the wait.
The acting is amazing, (10/10 for Peter Mullen who gives the performance of his career) and it has the type of score that truely has your insides churning.
One small fact horror gamers might like to know, is that the scene with the restraint chair at the beginning, and throughout the movie, was used in one of the Silent Hill games, and this movie was used to help the developers of that particular game in the series (possibly Silent Hill 2 or 3), to create the abandoned look we so love from places like the hospitals, with their peeling walls and boxes stuffed with old medical papers.
If you love playing Silent Hill, then you'll love watching this movie!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Very creepy
By Starski (33 reviews) from Trowbridge , 31 Jan 2013I watched this film when it first came out and i have to say it hit the spot. You're not sure what's going on at first and who exactly is being affected by the asylum and what happened there, so when it becomes apparent, it's quite shocking. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole film. Listening to the recordings of previous patients unsettled me too as i found it very creepy.- Was this review helpful to you?

I wouldnt wipe my ring piece with it.
By a customer , 09 Dec 2012What a waste of time! Theres no plot to the film, not once is it scary or even gets you on the edge of your seat, you actually hope to need the toilet for an excuse to get away from it and find yourself watching it in hope that it would somehow redeem itself. The film was very hard to follow and what was it doing under the supernatural category? I only rated it half a star as that is the bare minimum.- Was this review helpful to you?

Everyday Full of Dread
By Unreal1066 (28 reviews) from Northwood , 04 Dec 2012This film builds up suspense out of nothing so is clever to do that, as another reviewer said out of dread and what might have happeed in the past. The ending could of been a lot better and as this is the last thing I remember i will put this down as an OK film when it could of been great.- Was this review helpful to you?
