The title of this dirty, controversial, dare I say realistic comedy says it all. It's about potato delivery men and their sex lives (or lack of them). Set in Birmingham, Dave, Ferris, Tolly and Jeremy deliver potatoes for a living, but live for beer and a bit of how's-your-father. A seedy portayal of the most base instincts of the average British male, a cautionary tale for the ladies and an hilarious mirror of the lascivious, beer-goggled pursuits of "blokes."

This thoroughly British smutfest might be the direct descendant of those ghastly old Confessions films — only with far dirtier language than was allowed in the 1970s. The title more or less tells the whole story, as Johnny Vegas and Mackenzie Crook (Gareth from The Office) play Brummie potato deliverers whose amorous adventures could be summed up as soft-paw corn comedy. Writer/director Andy Humphries's film is less a coherent whole than a loosely connected series of sketches. One or two of these are funny, but most are not. The cast includes another Office alumnus, Lucy Davis, and Mark Gatiss from The League of Gentlemen, but sadly none of the lustre of these TV comedy gems has rubbed off on this unambitious, but mercifully short film.
The most critically reviled British comedy of modern times may be an accurate reflection of the life many live today, but it's a coarse, unlovely thing for all that, with few jokes and a sniggering attitude to sex.
yep i loved this film, funny as hell with the type of jokes only found in the gutter, if thats yer bag rent this film get some mates round and some tins in, oh yes send the bird out.
Everyone else's review was so bad, I had to see the film. Knowing I was in for gutter/lavatorial/carry-on humour helped. Did all the other reviewers have any idea who Johnny Vegas was- or did they rent the film because that bloke from the office was in it? Disturbing in parts, sickening in others, moving also. When I wasn't contorting my face into grimaces at the sheer obscenity, I was laughing.
A new British comedy is being hailed as the "worst film ever" by critics and has bombed at the box office. Sex Lives of the Potato Men, starring Johnny Vegas and Mackenzie Crook, aka Gareth from The Office, has been described as "smut for morons", "the most nauseous film ever made", and, at 83 minutes, "roughly 90 minutes too long". The movie was made using £800,000 of lottery cash. Hit sitcom The Office picked up two awards at this year's Golden... Read more
