The title of this dirty, controversial, dare I say realistic comedy says it all. It's about potato delivery men and their sex lives (or lack of them). Set in Birmingham, Dave, Ferris, Tolly and Jeremy deliver potatoes for a living, but live for beer and a bit of how's-your-father. A seedy portayal of the most base instincts of .. Read more

This thoroughly British “smutfest” might be the direct descendant of those ghastly old Confessions films — only with far dirtier language than was allowed in the 1970s. The title more or less tells the whole story, as Johnny Vegas and Mackenzie Crook (Gareth from The Office) play Brummie potato deliverers whose amorous adventures could be summed up as soft-paw corn “comedy”. Writer/director Andy Humphries's film is less a coherent whole than a loosely connected series of sketches. One or two of these are funny, but most are not. The cast includes another Office alumnus, Lucy Davis, and Mark Gatiss from The League of Gentlemen, but sadly none of the lustre of these TV comedy gems has rubbed off on this unambitious, but mercifully short film.

    Ignore the bad reviews ....

After reading the bad reviews at the top of the page (which I now realise were written by people who've undergone a sense of humour bypass), I was expecting this to be dire, and really only rented it because I wanted to see for myself how badly the great names of modern British comedy which star in the film had gone wrong. I have to say that they've not gone wrong at all. It's everything you'd expect from a movie starring Johnny Vegas - crude, sick, dark, and funny as hell with a few cracking one-liners. Ignore the prats who were 'offended by the swear words' - what did they expect from an 18? Rent this if you like a laugh, it's one of the funniest British comedy films I've ever seen.

    Laugh out loud funny!

I make no apologies I loved this film it was trashy but really funny and laugh out loud material.

Yes its Vulgar,Yes it's crude and in some places TMI(too much information)

Centred around some well known faces this is a good scripted comedy set in B'hams inner city.

Check out 'Fishy fingers' chip shop and the 10p Gerkin kids ride outside the shop.

If you want something to make you laugh on a dull day this is it.

Whatever you do don't try the Jam and juice sandwich---Vile!

A soggy spud not a Gratin Dauphinois

Yeah - cheap gag - but then this film was full of them. Bizarre. The level of the (mostly scatological) humour would be best suited for 10-12 year olds, yet the content is so adult in theme that the 10-12s are sadly excluded (except in households with decent, irresponsible parents of course). Like a bad, scato-sexual film version of the Simpsons 'up- North'.

    Frankly, I'd rather not.

    Crude, funny and very brummy!

There were many mixed reviews of this film, but I have to say that we enjoyed this film thoroughly.

It is crude in its humour but the scary thing is that there really are people out there like this!

Jonny Vegas and Mackenzie Crook perform excellently in this story of two van drivers delivering potatoes to Chip Shops in Brum.

    sick but funny

This film was very funny but hard work on the old stomach, some parts were almost too much to bare,on the other hand I had too see it through. It was consistant all the through and some of it could be considered bad taste if ,a, you can't tell complete fiction from reality or ,b,you hired the wrong film.Definatly not one to watch with the whole family! And finally not one I would buy but great for rental, and not one I would tell everyone I had watched. But thumbs up!

For males of a certain age and social upbringing

I'm certainly not hailing this as a classic but it is far from the worst film of the year that it was tainted as. Some terrible jokes for sure but some genuine lol moments as well turned this into a pleasant surprise. My warning is that if you don't like films or television programmes that are done in bad taste then this is not for you. A number of the jokes are cringeworthy and embarrassingly unfunny yet it's not there where I think the film's gotten the reputation that it has.

When I say that some of the jokes are bad taste I am thinking of the most excruciatingly bad taste jokes that you can possibly think of. It's there were the film is a big hit and miss. Generally the real bad taste jokes are terrible and in some cases I was struggling to watch. I don't mean because it was so unfunny, I mean because they really were not watchable. However I have great constitution when it comes to films and soldier on I did to witness a film that eventually fell apart in the last half hour.

If you're a male of the Gregory's Girl generation, liked early 80s British music i.e. punk, Dexy's, ska and the like I am sure you will be able to appreciate more parts of this film than others who haven't been fortunate enough to be raised with credibility in artistic interpretation as an innate ability. This is closer to the comedy in which I think most males of a similar age to myself will have experienced growing up through school and whilst it is crass and smutty at times it does have enough funny moments to justify it's rental.

Don't expect anything stylish, classy or respectful but this is closer to the England I know and live in than the tired brit-gangster flicks that get turfed out year after year. Much funnier than Dodgeball and it's only the lack of a real story that stop this being a pont higher.

Very crude and very funny (say all 4 who watched it!)

Forget all the miserable reviews (the Guardian included) and just giggle like looneys at Johhny Vegas' brilliant character and the odd looking one from the Office is great too. Havent laughed out loud and hard like that for ages. Not Politically Correct in the slightest and all the better for it I think.

After all the bad press this film got I was expecting it to be terrible. However, it turned out to be amusing and an easy watch. Plenty of dirty humour and funny scenes. Give it a try...

    Love it or hate it!

Don't choose this film if you are unsure, if it's your sense of humour you'll know it.The usual bad language and blokes sense of humour with an irreverent look at sex & life, very funny.

    Sick but I loved it.

Me and my partner thought it was hillarious. Sick, yes, but very very funny. And to think they got that bloke from Working Lunch to be in it.........
