    excellent

I saw this when it appeared on TV and was totally absorbed by it. In fact, I still can remember some parts vividly. It's a excellent, gritty portrayal of how innocent girls become trapped in a sordid and dangerous life as prostitutes. John Simm is one of my favourite actors and has been ever since I saw him in another TV drama set in the Lake District. Now, of course, he's well known for the excellent TV series 'Life on Mars'. Here, he gives another superb performance but the highest accolade must go to the main female lead, Anamaria Marinca, who won an award , I think, for her portrayal of one of the kidnapped sisters. This is no comfortable story. It is upsetting, disturbing and very realistic. You'll remember it long after you've seen it and that, to me, says quality drama.

    a long, slow simm-er ..

At times, painfully slow moving, but otherwise an excellent, thought-provoking piece of work .. Great locations of Boston, Canada, Eastern Europe and of course London .. John Simm, as ever, gives a class performance ..

    Long but stay with it!

Engrossing, moving and original and, at 3 hours long, the director made no compromise on plot to trim it down to a more accessible length; something that allows the story to develop at a more natural pace, making it impossible to avoid feeling drawn in by the tragic events

    Amazing

Absolutely brilliant film. Rough and a bit violent but it is a must see, kept me in front of the telly from the beginning to the end, made me cry and laugh. Brilliant

    Very Impacting movie

Sex Trafficking is something that is reported on in the media, however after seeing this film, the viewer is able to grasp an understanding of the fear and blackmail that is used to encourage women who are bought and sold as prostitues, yet seemingly do nothing to escape.

The film is often harsh and very much jaw dropping, but a great visual understanding of some of the issues facing women leaving Eastern Europe and being tricked into believing that they are headed towards a better life.

Performances in this movie are exceptional.

    Compelling film

This is a long film at 3 hrs so prepare yourself as it is compelling viewing from start to finish.

It shows the horrors of trafficking girls out of Eastern Europe and is very graphic in detail so be prepared for violent scenes.

    Well worth watching.

    Was it worth watching?

Well, kind of. Viewers must bear in mind that like many other films there is a great degree of drama and half-truths thrown in, and this has not escaped that. As one critic pointed out earlier, it was political and it needn't have been at all, so please don't go blaming the Americans once again for something they haven't done.

The first two hours were unnecessarily long, the latter third really picked up speed and delivered, thankfully. I skimmed through the first 2 hours and still retained the plot, the characters and the overall direction of the film, so I'd say it was over-long - 2 hours would have done the film justice. Other than that it was OK, but not great in any way whatsoever.

    Shocking, distrubing and brilliant

I was not sure what to expect from this film, but can only say it delivers the message of the human sex trafficking trade in a hard hitting and excellent manner. I feel raw after watching this brilliant film and would recommend it to anyone. Expect to be engaged, but also deeply disturbed.
