el hermosa lucia y el sexo
By a customer from Nottingham, England , 25 Jul 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Lucia y el sexo is a brilliantly filmed, skilfully directed work of art from the always-excellent Julio Medem. Set amongst beautiful landscapes, hot sunshine and luscious blue seas, this film radiates the viewer from the offset. The story is a slow moving deconstruction of love and passion between two very different characters, and how there worlds collide with each other, and with others around them. The two central characters (Lucia and Lorenzo) are acted superbly, and the incredibly gorgeous paz vega again shows her amazing talents as one of Spain?s up and coming stars (see also hable con ella). The plots twists and turns will keep you trying to figure out the somewhat confusing story, but as the credits roll you feel rewarded for your efforts. A review of this film would not be complete without mentioning the sexual content of the film. The explicitness of the nudity never seems gratuitous because it heightens the obvious passion of the lover?s relationship, although one scene in particular certainly pushes the boundaries of mainstream cinemagoers! Overall, this film is highly recommended, and repeat viewing is essential.- Was this review helpful to you?

(93)Beautifully directed passion of real life and fantasy
By Jiri (1 review) , 05 May 2013Great movie, keeps the suspense going thru the whole movie, but gives you clues all the time so you can make the connection between the book that Lorenzo is writing and the reality he lives. Great stuff highly recommend!- Was this review helpful to you?

Spanish omelette
By Bobsview (549 reviews) from Gloucestershire , 31 Mar 2013Spanish film with sub titles. Very explicit. Good in parts but the plot is very difficult to follow and is about an author writing about another author (himself) and his sex life. A lot of the time you do not know whether what is happening is the story or in the book he is writing.- Was this review helpful to you?

No Story, But Plenty Of Morning Glory!
By Eivom (17 reviews) from Thornton-Cleveleys , 02 Feb 2013I couldn't see what all the fuss was about to be honest. The story, if you can find it, goes no where except perhaps in a very large unlikely circle. I think the film was made for art's sake. It seemed to be a collection of erotic photographs strung together in the hope that a story would emerge. It was just a gallery of sexual moments, most of which made no sense anyway. I love watching the naked female form as much as the next man, but what was the point? It was a disappointing film, with a boring non-story, that would have been better spiced up with more sex scenes and produced as a porn movie.- Was this review helpful to you?
