[Highly rated reviewer]This movie is a superb follow up to the tv series of Sex and the City. It picks up four years on
The film sees friends Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones the publicist, (played by Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York, the art gallery curator (played by Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes, the cynical lawyer (played by Cynthia Nixon) continuing to juggle work, relationships, motherhood and Manhattan real estate in their 40s.
Chris Noth reprises his role as Carrie's Mr Big, David Eigenberg is Miranda's down-to-earth husband Steve, Evan Handler plays Charlotte's dependable husband Harry, and Jason Lewis makes a showing as Samantha's actor boyfriend, Smith.
Carrie who is a successful author and journalist, who also writes a column about sex and relationships in New York city, and who is also everyones favourite fashion icon-next-door turns 50 years old in the film, but still has her impeccable dress sense, and her sardonic wit is sharper than ever. She continues to narrate her own story about sex, love and the fashion-obsessed single woman in New York City, as the film goes along.
The show still has that wonderful style, humour and wit that people are drawn too.
Many people can relate to the same problems that the 4 girls in Sex and the City have.
The film is about forgiveness, and the pursuit of love in a way that is positive, real and meaningful.
Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Hudson (also in the film Dreamgirls) plays Carrie Bradshaws assistant.
In the film, Carrie is planning her long-anticipated wedding to Mr. Big, also known as John James Preston, with her best friends - Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda.
She suddenly learns that life doesn't play out like a fairytale. But when all else fails, you always have your closest friends to lean on.
Well worth watching.

TV is freeBy a customer from London, England , 11 Sep 2011I've taken Sex & The City II off my selection list. Enough said.
sucky suck suckBy Bobro (16 reviews) from Blackburn , 26 Aug 2011Sucked... i liked the TV show (no im not gay) but you cant make it into a movie, even if you made it just several episodes together, it doesnt work as they are meant to be short little stories that loosely tie together... stop doing this Hollywood!!!
It's Goodbye !By a customer , 04 Aug 2011I didn't last 5 minutes into this film, despite having been glued to the TV series for almost the entire run.
Why ? It seemed dated and tired and a bit pointless. I'd expected something else in the post (Luther 2 or Spiral 3) and was irritated to get a movie which was way down on my list of preferences. So much for the red markings. These light-hearted, light-brained girlies just didn't seem amusing anymore. Their troubles mere trifles, their day long done. Time to move on.
Even the clothes just weren't so hot any more.
Bet you think this review comes from some grumpy old man ?
FAB, LOVED IT .....By a customer , 13 Jul 2011Loved the series soooo much, I have lost count how many times I have watched it on the re-runs.
But the film was just as brilliant. It hit the nail on the head & especially where Carrie & Big are concerned. It brought the viewer up to date & answered all the questions we were thinking over the years.
In had some sadness, happiness & hilarious moments (Charlotte in Mexico being one of them), I couldn't stop laughing.
All SATC fans will love this film. Cus I certainly did!!!
Just brilliant. Cannot fault it in anyway!
