    [Highly rated reviewer]

A really well put together horror movie. The same sort of premise as Saw or Wolf Creek with a mad professor in a crumbling mountain estate torturing and killing people who have wandered into his territory. The tension is cleverly controlled, and the beautiful Italian mountain scenery is used to good effect. A clever and unexpected twist in the end.

Now this is good. If you aren't into the torture genre like myself you won't be disappointed with this as there is a lot more to it. Not just torture for the hell of it but a really good convincing story and excellent performances from all lead cast all round! Great picture and excellent frightening atmoshere and direction. That makes a refreshing change doesn't it! The movie grabs you from the very first minute taking the viewer on a terrifying ride right throught to a very satisfying ending. I don't often give horror movies good ratings as most of them really do not live up to their expectations but boy, this one does. My 2 favourite horror movies of all time are Them and Funny Games. This is nowhere as good as them but you can maybe get an idea of my likes and see through my review of this movie. You will never guess the ending...totally unpredictable. I had one disappointment with this movie...it isn't long enough. But so wasn't Them. If this had gone on for longer I would've given it 4 stars. Them & Funny Games got the 5.

OMG This film is mental and sick. The guy who plays shadow is really a very good actor or he really has just come from a mental home lol.

Grisly and very clever, this initially kicks off like some dark retread of DELIVERANCE,descends into creepy torture-porn territory and finally pulls the rug from under you in a very clever way - can think of an obvious film reference of the past twenty years this is indebtted to,that is not a criticism, this feels nasty and quite fresh - a very interesting surprise, once it gets past a rather poor opening sequence

Thought i would give this ago as sounded slightly interesting. Sadly this film takes about 45 minutes to get to any real horror. the characters are not really developed and the end twist is quite predictable.
