It is sad that it took more than sixty years to make a film that properly recognised Udhams sacrifice for justice. We do know however that the man that led the massacre General Dyer died a broken man, his actions were condemned by the army and British public at large, as well as being lambasted by all sides in the Houses of parliament.
44 years later the goverment of india led its own massacre in Amritsar killing six thousand Sikh pilgrims at the Golden Temple by contrast this action was met with unequivical praise by the indian parliament, the army decorated these killer generals beyond measure and it was widely met with jubilation by the non-Sikh indian public. This crime raised its own Udham Singh in the guise of Beant and Satwant Singh whom as Udham before them sought justice, they were to attain this justice at the highest price, It is my sincere hope that It doesn't take sixty years for a film to be made to eulogise their great sacrifice.
