One of the top films for 2005
By Jim from Bromsgrove UK , 23 Feb 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
A must see film, already one of the top ten films released in the UK in 2005.
J-Lo just oozes sex appeal and the spark between her and Richard Gere makes the couple of scenes where they dance together worth seeing the film just for that. However I would have loved to see a lot more interaction between the two.
Good story line with a 40 something stuck in a rut attorney wanting to spice up his very dull and mundane life.
For those of you who followed and liked Strictly Come Dancing you will love this film.
All actors must have spent some considerable time learning to dance, they all pulled it off, excellent performances from all the cast.
Can't wait to see the DVD with the extras!- Was this review helpful to you?

(446)Simply inspiring film
By ccxo (3 reviews) , 14 May 2013Lovely uplifting film. It reminded me about when my wife and I learned to dance in mid life, the closeness, the feeling of well being, the joy of getting the dances right and enjoyment of the music, the difficulties and the successes. Well played by Richard and Jennifer and all the supporting cast. Great!- Was this review helpful to you?

boring stuff
By a customer , 13 May 2013I usually love dance films, and with a well known cast like this I thought it would be enjoyable.........however it was tedious and a real let down. the dancing was rubbish and the acting was hammy. I had to keep looking at the time as I thought it was on forever, Richard Gere stick to pretty woman- Was this review helpful to you?

Shall We Dance? - HELL TO THE YES!
By xXxLiVyAxXx (17 reviews) from Ruislip , 26 Apr 2013[Highly rated reviewer]
This is one of the best films I have ever seen in my life (so far) I love Richard Gere so much and he played the role so perfectly, capturing the essence of the charcter and his emotions. Supporting actors were also sublime. I would highly recommend you watch this film, not just for the acting but also the DANCING, having seen Richard in Chicago its a apparent he can tap dance very well, but this just brought it to a whole new light showing that anyone can dance. I felt so many emotions by the end I was in tears, fits of laughter, smiling and dancing! Storyline isn't predictable and is a welcome change to the usual rom-com genre type plots, thank you for this wonderful film! So what are you waiting for, go watch it now!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Great with a glass of white wine
By a customer , 09 Mar 2013A really good Friday night in. No action or car chases just a good story, lots of laughs and decent actors. The role was perfect for Richard Gere as the charming and sexy older man and Lisa Ann Walter played her role superbly. I haven't seen the original so no comparisons to make.- Was this review helpful to you?

Not as good as the original
By allykat (76 reviews) from Weymouth , 06 Mar 2013A poor substitute for the Japanese original. This version is for Americans who can't read subtitles and it lacks the real meaning of the original.- Was this review helpful to you?
