We can't resist new...romantic comedy, Shall We Dance?
Sizzling sexual chemistry and fab dance sequences
A must see film, already one of the top ten films released in the UK in 2005.
J-Lo just oozes sex appeal and the spark between her and Richard Gere makes the couple of scenes where they dance together worth seeing the film just for that. However I would have loved to see a lot more interaction between the two.
Good story line with a 40 something stuck in a rut attorney wanting to spice up his very dull and mundane life.
For those of you who followed and liked Strictly Come Dancing you will love this film.
All actors must have spent some considerable time learning to dance, they all pulled it off, excellent performances from all the cast.
Can't wait to see the DVD with the extras!
A remake of a Japanese film of the same name, 'Shall We Dance' looses very little of its charm in this sparkling update. Whilst narratives about men in mid-life crisises are common within Hollywood, this story of a man who joins a dance class in the hope of infusing his life with passion, rarely misses a step.
Although undercharged as a comedy, the strength lies in a strong script and an array of stuble performances. Director Peter chelson deserves much credit, particuarly in coaxing a compelling perfornance from Jenifer Lopez. It is comical to hear 'Jenny From The Block' talk about her desire to go to Blackpool, for once, her screen pressence is not undermined her JLO personna.
A Joy!
I went to see this with 4 friends; we practically danced out of the cinema humming the last tune.
What a wonderful must see movie; the last time Richard Gere made me feel this way about him was in Officer and a Gentleman proving the years just dont matter when you have that much appeal.
But then he, Jennifer and Susan did a great job; as did the rest of the cast.
Great music, great storyline, and great dancing - what more can you ask for.
All four of us agreed we would have loved to watch it through a second time again and I will certainly buy a copy when it comes out on DVD!!!
This is a pretty good chick flick. Gere plays a middle aged man, stuck in a good life, in a good marriage with a lovely happy family.
But there is something missing and he finds himself wanting something more. It only touches on the reasons Gere decides to dance, which is perhaps a missed opportunity to open up the door of the male middle aged mind.
The journey follows several other characters all learning to dance for different reasons. Lopez is pretty good as the 'lost' instructor and her dance dance moves are impressive. It makes you smile all the way through, even if it doesn't quite make you tap your feet.
I saw this film before I saw the original Japanese one and I thought it was one of the most dull movies I have ever seen.
Richard Gere does a good job and the fact that he can't dance fits because he is meant to be learning.
J. Lo is terrible terrible terrible!
I saw the japanese version a few months later and was amazed by how good it was even though I can't speak the language.
Really great acting, good dancing and hilarious.
In summary.....skip the new and watch the old.

this film is superb. John Clark (played by Richard Gere) is a man with a wonderful job, a charming wife and a loving family, who nevertheless feels that something is missing as he makes his way every day through the city.
Each evening on his commute home through Chicago, John sees a beautiful woman staring with a lost expression through the window of a dance studio.
Haunted by her gaze, John impulsively jumps off the train one night, and signs up for ballroom dancing lessons, hoping to meet her.
But has he made a mistake?
His teacher turns out to be not Paulina (played by Jennifer Lopez), but the older Miss Mitzi (played by Anita Gillette), and John proves to be just as clumsy as his equally clueless classmates on the dance-floor.
But then when he does meet Paulina, she tells him in no uncertain terms, that she hopes he has come to the studio to seriously study dance and not to look for a date.
As he continues his lessons, John falls in love with dancing, but keeps it a secret from his family and co-workers.
John trains very hard for Chicago's biggest dance competition.
His friendship with Paulina blossoms, as his enthusiasm rekindles her own lost passion for dance.
But the more time John spends away from home, the more his wife Beverly (played by Susan Sarandon) becomes suspicious.
With his secret about to be revealed, will he continue dancing?........watch the film to find out.
I thought Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon might ensure a quality viewing. However, i should have known that it was going to be poor with J Lo in the cast. I really have tried to like her but she really is unconvincing and I had a hard job believing the story line. This was pretty boring (and that's coming from someone who enjoys most girly flicks, eg She's all that). Really, pick something else - Spanglish is a better option if you want light hearted entertainment!
Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez step out in a delightfully sexy comedy with sizzling all star cast.
John Clark is a meek work-a-holic who feels trapped in a dull mind-numbing existence, But one night, his whole life changes when the sight of a beautiful dance instructor inspires him to break out of his mold and sign up for the ballroom dance lessons.
Now he'll have to step lightly - and do some fancy foot work - if he expects to keep his exciting new passion a secret from his family and friends. Romantic Comedy 1hr 33 mins cert 15
I really enjoyed this film. It moved along gentle and I liked the ending so much because it took a different turning to the way I thought it was going.
Couples change as they get older. We do start to take each other for granted. It doesnt mean like in most films about long marriages that you dont love each other any more but as this film portrays that you may be look for different things from your marriage than when you first started out.
I would defiantly recommend this to any one who has been with there partner for 15 years as they will relate to it more.
Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon where very well cast.
Very good, especially if you dance. The Tango scene is excellent. A very easy to watch Saturday afternoon movie.
i expected that my wife would
enjoy this whilst i yawned,but
no,i thought it was a pretty good
easy to watch film, but with typical
yankee ending.worth seeing.
