Fantastic!

The Gallaghers are back and better than ever! This has got to be one of the best shows to have ever been created. The Chatsworth estate may not be the garden of Eden but its one hell of a funny place to visit! Frank Gallagher is fantastic as the alco dad who would sell his own mother for a couple of E's and a few pints. The best anti hero father figure since Homer Simpson. The writing is fantastic and deals with modern day issues, laced through with some very black but very real humour. The series is also very lifelike - dealing with complexity of dysfunctial family, but also manages to convey the warmth, love and support that lower class housing estates do have. At times rip roaringly funny, at times sad, but always compelling viewing!! Scatter!!

This is it....

Well this is it guys, the series where it all went wrong for the brilliantly funny Shameless.

Who knows whether it was the actors decision or they got axed but this series saw some of the Chatsworth Estate's strongest and funniest characters get added to the scrap heap.

From watching the first episode you find out the fate of the superb Kev and Veroinca, some of the shows funniest characters. And that my friends is it for them, never to be seen again for some random reason.

Then we see the departure of Sheila, probably the funniest agrophobic and claustrophobic person I've ever known. In Sheila's case however it was good to see her in a moment of rare lucidity leave Frank for his many affairs, lies and money grabbing ways.

It was bad enough having Fiona and Steve leave in series 2 but at least they ploughed on and still managed to be their usual funny as hell.

But it wasn't only the departures in this series that ruined the show after, it was also making some weak guest characters a permanent feature.

Thats right, Monica and Norma are some of the worst characters to ever set foot in Chatsworth, deeply unfunny and incredibly boring.

The one thing that just may help to save things however was making the McGuire family move in, their choice of house wasn't exactly good to this Kev and Veronica fan but at least their funny.

All in all, the worst series so far.
