An action-comedy with a decidedly Western twist, SHANGHAI NOON features astounding acrobatics from superstar Jackie Chan. Chong Wang (Chan) is a dedicated member of the Chinese Imperial Guard. When the emperor's former captain, Lo Fong (Roger Yuan), oversees an illegal operation that involves kidnapping Princess Pei Pei (Lucy .. Read more

Visually authentic and deliciously anachronistic, this period western from martial arts maestro Jackie Chan is a hugely enjoyable combination of buddy comedy and adventure. Sent to the States to rescue a kidnapped princess (Lucy Liu), Chan's Imperial Palace guard hooks up with outlaw Owen Wilson, who proves to be his equal in the fish-out-of-water stakes. Whether using antlers, sheriff's badges or horseshoes to prize himself out of a tight corner, Chan is pure slapstick poetry in motion: falling off horses, getting riotously drunk and confusing slave-owning louse Roger Yuan and corrupt sheriff Xander Berkeley. This fast-moving caper gently sends-up a well-loved genre and will provide a couple of hours of unrestrained entertainment.
Engaging mix of martial arts and comedy that will pass an agreeable hour or two; its slicker wit is a welcome change to Chan's more usual slapstick comedy.
"...[Chan and Wilson are] perfectly matched in temperament and timing, they make for a classic duo whose cinematic exploits have surely only begun..."
This was very funny , Jackie Chan at his best and with the addition of Owen wilson this duo is a winning combination, ps watch out for ackie with the peace pipe
Good clean fun! Very funny. The out-takes are even funnier. Well worth a watch, as is the sequel 'Shanghai Knights'.
great film jackie keeps you entertained alway through
Great film, perfect for a giggle. easy watching
I think there is something about Owen Wilson. He just makes me laugh. He was great in Zoolander. Great in The Royal Tenebaums. Very good in Behind Enemy Lines. He was even good in that Liam Neeson quasi-horror flick (The Haunting).

No surprise, then, that I loved this film. Perhaps it is his preposterous nose. Perhaps it is his wry smile. Perhaps it is the fact that this is a down to earth, no brain required, old fashioned comedy romp. I recommend it to you all.

Wow what a combination. Jackie Chan oober fighting master and Owen Wilson comedy genius in a wonderful fusion of the east meets the west, with east style kung fu and west style cowboys. It shouldn't work, but it so does and makes for a really entertaining movie.
I'm a sucker for Westerns and Jackie Chan films so I really enjoyed this. Wilson and Chan have excellent chemistry and it also features some of the best fighting I've seen Chan do in a long time. If you're looking for some good lighthearted fun then I highly recommend this.
Love this film, funny one liners, great action, comic timing and some attractive cast! Have watched it a few times and still enjoy the humour and acting. Favourite scene: The bath scene.
Great film, perfect for a giggle. easy watching
Hilarious East meets West comedy. My son loved it!!! He loves all Jackie Chan films.
I always feel I should apologise for writing a review of a film I did not enjoy. Instead, I am going to simply say that 'Shanghai Noon' just isn't aimed at me!
Forgive me for stereotyping but if you're a male teenage Jackie Chan fan, or high on weed, perhaps this will float your boat... Otherwise I am not sorry to warn you that even Chan & Wilson's combined talents cannot rescue this dire filmsy story. There are some funny gags (which merits the one star) but you can sum these up in less than 5 minutes.
As my husband & lifelong Jackie Chan fan sums up... 'Top rubbish!'
