Fancy something different ....By Kevin Scott from Herne Bay , 04 Mar 2005
[Highly rated reviewer]Fed up and bored with the usual buildings exploding ,time bombs being disabled with seconds to go ,the bad guy coming back to life after having been stabbed , shot and fallen 100 feet from a building , maniacal car chases and so on then you might enjoy this film.
There is no sex , no violence and.... err ... no action.
But it is a very enjoyable film with an unusual and refreshing theme.
It is well acted throughout and I recommend it.

So nearly goodBy AMB (98 reviews) from York , 29 Jan 2010One of those frustrating films - it's such a great story line, but the film doesn't do it justice. Only 2 of the fake stories are really mentioned, and there is very little development beyond, 'Yes I did', 'No you didn't' style of dialogue.
Could have been so much better.
Interesting study of fabulist behaviourBy Cato (774 reviews) from Lydbury North , 25 Dec 2009Engrossing tale of a journalist suffering from the need to make up his articles rather than just reporting on them, which in some ways makes you wonder why they don't do more of it. It would certainly make for more exciting reading sometimes. It was a well acted film but the script was a bit too pat and at times it seemed like a TV play and thge characters were a bit one dimensional. The score was pretty awful too in those soppy string arrangements so beloved of American film composers. The accompanying section showed the real person on whose activities the film was based, and he seemed pretty much like the actor playing him except that he was a little more geeky. Interesting but a bit too black and white.
small but perfectly formedBy Vdubbman (72 reviews) from Andover, Hampshire , 17 Dec 2009Not too much meat on the bone with this one. Just about a very intelligent and devious journalist who took the establishment for a ride! The characterizations are what make this play-like film very watchable. Recommended
One of my favourite filmsBy Paul William Smith from Glengormley, Northern Ireland , 11 Jun 2009'Shattered Glass' is a must-see for anyone interested in the media.
Based on the remarkable true story of Stephen Glass, it is probably best for those - like I was - unfamiliar with the events.
The way it unravels is brilliantly conveyed and the performance of Peter Sarsgaard led me to other films he stars in such as 'Jarhead' and 'Kinsey'. I hadn't even heard of him before watching 'Shattered Glass'!
This is now one of my favourite films and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Define Irony?By a customer from Maidenhead , 01 Mar 2009Journalists going on a witch hunt after a member of their profession is caught making up stories.
