Fay Weldon's dark, acerbic tale of rejection and revenge receives the full Hollywood “wash and brush up” treatment here, reducing its saturnine charm to frothy candyfloss. The whole farrago is hopelessly miscast with a wet and vapid Meryl Streep as the vamp novelist Mary Fisher, a cardboard cut-out Ed Begley Jr as the errant husband she snares, and, most disappointing of all, Roseanne Barr as a curiously weak and woolly She-Devil. Watching this makes you appreciate once more the celebrated BBC television adaptation that starred Patricia Hodge, Dennis Waterman and Julie T Wallace.

BOTCHED AMERICAN REMAKE !

An American remake of the British television series ' The Lives and Loves of a She-Devil '. Forget this version and rent the original British one instead. Superior in every department from start to finish. The biggest surprise for me was how the Americans managed to get Meryl Streep for the lead role - just goes to show that even Meryl gets it wrong sometimes !

Meryl at her comedic best

This movie is truly fabulous. Every movement is tinged with superb, heavy irony. The cast is perfect and truly carry the light (and almost irrelevant) plot. Loved it!

Hell hath no fury!

If you are looking for an enjoyable and inoffensive comedy film then look no further. She-Devil boasts a strong cast (the pairing of Streep and Barr is ingenious), good acting and a witty script. In addition to this the disc has both great audio and visual quality. A worthy inclusion to your rental list.

Brilliant fun!

This is an absolutly brilliant film! The combination of Meryl Streep and Roseanne Barr and Ed Bedley Jr is phenominal. This film made me want to watch it over and over again - you can never get bored of She-Devil - absolutly fantastic!!!

Brilliant fun!

First Get Mad, Then Even!!!!

I Rented this movie and thought it was just what you need for a girls night in. It has a good storyline & is quite funny in parts.

'Meryl Streep' plays the home wrecking novelist with a character very similar to 'Madeline' in (Death Becomes Her), only this is not as brilliant.

I thought 'Rosanne Barr' delivers a convincing performance as the frumpy, downtrodden wife who loses everything, seeks revenge, and eventually finds happiness with herself.
