She - The Ultimate Weapon is an interesting and thoughtful story, which is why Anime is such a joy to watch over 'normal' cartoons. It may appear like an action series with an unsual twist but it is more than that, with the early focus being on the relationship between Chise, a shy schoolgirl who has been 'mechanised' and turned into a WMD, and her equally unsure boyfriend Shuji, who decides to stick with Chise after her transformation into a WMD and how he struggles to make sense of it all.
Admittedly there is little action in the opening episodes, but by Episode 4, things start to pick up. Hopefuly, in the next 4 episodes on Vol 2 (there are 13 in total with Vol 3 having just been released containing the final 5 episodes) the focus moves to the action element of the story.
Just a quick note: this is listed a 2 Disc set yet both discs contain the same 4 episodes. The only difference is that on Disc 1 you get trailers and Disc 2 you get the Extras - which consist of a handful of Japanese TV features on the making of the series.
